🔥THE FIRE AND THE HAMMER🔨By Reeni Mederos
God speaks of false prophets in Jeremiah 23. What He is saying is false is those who have not stood in the Council of the Lord who proclaim from their own mind and imagination instead of out from the Council of God. This is talking about His people, the shepherds of His flock and civil leaders, NOT diviners and sorcerers. This terminology of God calling some “false prophets” has to do with the character of these prophets. These are those that do not die to themselves but look to their prophetic gift as an idol and uphold their gifts higher than God Himself as if their gift is something to be envied in their own eyes just like Lucifer flattered himself with His beauty. How many of us are guilty of this very thing? But going even further, God says this later on in the chapter….
Jeremiah 23:29 Is not My word like fire that consumes all that cannot endure the test?” says the Lord, “and like a hammer that breaks the most stubborn rock in pieces? AMP
After calling out and exposing the false prophets, God is telling us how you will know the difference between words that are wheat and words that are straw. One has substance and the other does not. Substance that challenges and even offends the mindset and imagination of the person that is built up in self importance in his own mind. The true word of the Lord that comes from the Council of God will have so much of the fear of the Lord contained within it it that it will consume those who hear it like a fire or it will break the stubborn heart into pieces who reject the word. How many times do we hear the word of the Lord and we waste it by tossing it aside as another quick fix to our misery or lack of peace? Always searching for the word of the Lord instead of seeking God ourselves to hear straight from His own mouth? Prostituting the very gift He gave us. Something we have all done and some of us are still doing.
These are false words that are supposedly claimed to be from the Lord but it is false because it does nothing to change the heart. Why? Because there is either no true fire from the furnace of God that has tested the prophet in the presence of the Lord or the word has been treated as as common and disregarded in its value because we have become to familiar with God. We have become familiar without really getting to know what He truly wants. We get close to Him but only so far. But a true word will burn in the heart and it will consume everything in its pathway and that person who hears the word will be put to the test. We look for words that make us feel good instead of words that will challenge us and bring the fire to our hearts so that we can be changed and transformed by the very DNA of God that is embedded in it from the Council of God. So much to chew on right here.
This is where we are going in 2017. In order for God to use the church as He desires, there has to be a lot of things that need to go through the fiery furnace. We must pass through the fire to get to the gold. Often times we think of fire as a bad thing. But the fire of God’s furnace is an invitation into the depths of His heart and His holiness. God said in Hebrews 12:14, “Follow peace with all men, and holiness, without which no man shall see the Lord.” This is not a forced process. This is a process that has to be willing. God will never force you. But the hammer of His word from the Council of Heaven will break and shatter every single thing that is of the arm of the flesh and doesn’t come straight from the spirit of the Council of the Lord.
If you are not being burned or hammered right now in your life, you will be. It’s inescapable. This is not something to fear but is something we should welcome from the spirit of God to help us get to the next level of our destiny In God. More importantly, it is something we should welcome for the sheer purpose of getting to know the Lord on a level we have never known before. This is really good news for us that speak the word of the Lord as His representatives because it means with greater power comes greater responsibility and accountability. God is turning up the heat on us prophets and prophetic people because there are powerful and challenging days ahead that we are going to have to make crucial decisions that need the divine wisdom of God like no other time in history. The question is, who will be able to stand up in the midst of this kind of test?
God is taking our nation through a season of greatness and much is being birthed. There is also a greatness of responsibility that comes along with the blessing. We cannot take God for granted in this process and we cannot become complacent in our plenty. God wants relationship more than anything else. Even during the election and during our time of repentance according to 2 Chronicles 7:14, God was always after our hearts not just as a nation but as individuals. He cares about each one of us and is interested in every aspect of our lives. The problem is that we don’t let Him in every area, just parts of it. We are terrified of intimacy with Him because we just might see ourselves in a way that we are afraid to come to grips with. But God sees it all anyway. And we are also terrified of coming to know Him as He really is. We don’t even know what that means. The closer we come to Him, the more fear of the Lord we encounter. So much so that our very bodies cannot handle the presence of the Lord without falling straight on our faces like dead men.
This is what we have been crying out for. This is the season that is upon us. We are a flaming fire in the presence of the Lord and that flaming fire gets spoken out of our mouths and burns everything in our pathway because of being in the presence of the Council of the Lord. The question is, have we really been standing in the Council of the Lord at all? I don’t think we have even scratched the surface of what that means but we are about to find and what a ride this is going to be. But it will be full of reverence, the fear of the Lord and a whole lot of dying to what we thought was Gods will. We are about to enter into the kindness and the severity of God. When we come through it, we will be completely changed. Some of you won’t even recognize yourselves a year from now if you don’t give up. Keep to the course and don’t get distracted. This is worth the sacrifice!
Romans 11:22 Then appreciate the gracious kindness and the severity of God: to those who fell into spiritual ruin, severity, but to you, God’s gracious kindness—if you continue in His kindness by faith and obedience to Him; otherwise you too will be cut off. AMP
